What Are Waistbeads ?
Waistbeads are a traditional African accessory that have been worn for centuries by women in many West African cultures. These adornments come in different colors and shapes and may also include gemstones, crystals, or charms; typically worn on the waist or hips.

Waistbeads are more commonly used to gauge changes in weight. Women of all sizes and shapes can comfortably wear waist beads to adorn their body.

Waistbeads are often associated with womanhood, maturity, and growth. When a strand pops or becomes outgrown, a pair of waist beads may also mark the transition into a new stage of life.

Waistbeads can be worn under clothing for only the wearer and their chosen partners to see, similarly to a special set of lingerie. They can also be shown off and used to accentuate the wearer's figure.
What Materials do I use on my Waistbeads ?
I primarily use seed beads, glass beads, genuine stone, Swarovski crystals, and semi-precious stone beads, as well as nickel-free accents.

Beads and anklets are made using our durable cord. Thigh beads and select bracelets are made with elastic.
How to Measure ?
First, decide where you want your beads to sit on your body.
Do you want them high on your waist? Down at your hips? Right at your belly button? Need a Measuring Kit?
​
After you decide, wrap measuring tape or string around that part of your body to get the measurement.
The number that lines up with 1" on the measuring tape is your desired fit.
Please be sure to relax and breathe while taking your size. (DO NOT SUCK YOUR STOMACH IN WHILE DOING THIS).

If you’re using a string, mark on the string where the two ends meet, then measure that length with a ruler.
**Try not to wrap the string or tape too snugly around your body. It will result in a tighter fit than you may anticipate.
Cleansing Your Crystals
There are several ways to clean your crystals.
I recommend charging them in direct moonlight, using Florida water, sage and/or incense.
Are your Waistbeads Permanent or Removable ?
Our waistbeads can be ordered as a permanent tie-on strand AND/OR made to be removable (measurements required).

Under each waistbead profile, you now have the option to order the desired style as a Tie-on option (60 inches) or add the 'Clasp Add On' Service.
​
The 'Clasp Add On' service includes GOLD FILLED AND/OR STERLING SILVER FILLED finishing to ensure safety and durable materials that can be worn in water, during exercise, etc.
**This service will include a $10 upcharge to make the strand removable at your desired measurements.
